Kira LeMat, LCSW
Program Facilitator & Engagement Coordinator
Kira LeMat, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and adventure therapist who combines her love of the outdoors with her commitment to supporting growth, healing, and resilience. She earned her degree in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz and her Master’s in Social Work from Portland State University.
Kira’s career has spanned inpatient and outpatient mental health, recovery programs, private practice, and non-profit work with children and families. She has extensive experience working with high-risk youth in Portland’s parks, schools, and natural spaces—meeting clients where they are and using the environment itself as a catalyst for change. As a supervisor, she has trained other professionals to expand beyond traditional talk therapy, encouraging them to connect with clients through their own passions and interests and to use real-world experiences as bridges to healing.
Her therapeutic approach incorporates play, humor, and adventure to break down barriers and create authentic connections. By blending evidence-based practice with experiential and outdoor activities, Kira helps clients who may have felt disappointed or stuck in traditional therapy find new pathways toward recovery and self-discovery.
Outside of her clinical work, Kira finds her own inspiration in the outdoors. She enjoys backpacking, climbing, hiking, paddling, and chasing big mountain adventures, as well as balancing the intensity of her work with the grounding practice of pottery.
For Kira, therapy is an adventure: a chance to step outside of comfort zones, discover inner strength, and create meaningful change.
